Flabby to 5K?
Do you have a Bucket List? I don't actually have a list written down, but in my head, there are things I know I want to do in this life.
One was to lose a hundred pounds. Thanks to a fabulous tool called the lap-band, and two years worth of hard work, I not only met, but exceeded that one! The size 12 I wore for approximately two weeks must have really turned my husband on, because I promptly got pregnant and am currently working my way back down to it (Yes, I know size 12 is horrifying for some of you – for me, it's a victory!)! I feel like that goal is do-able. It's one I've accomplished before and I know I'll get there again.
When I was pregnant, I got lazy. For nine months, I ate candy and skipped work outs and generally went back to my old way of life. The baby is seven months old now the candy binge has continued. By some miracle, I have lost half of the 40 pounds I gained while pregnant, so I only have 20 more pounds of damage to undo.
For several years, I've been working towards, and failing miserably on, another Bucket List item. I want to jog a 5K. It seems so simple! I'm a fairy young, healthy person. There is no reason I can't do this!
So why do I fail to finish the training program every single time? Laziness? Fear of failure? Who knows! This time has to be different, I have to do it. I need to get these 20 pounds off so I can start working on the final 30 that I was going to lose before I got pregnant!
It's currently April, and I have until July 4th to get my big hiney in gear for this thing. Here goes nothin'!
The Plan:
In the past, I have always tried this Couch to 5K Plan. It's an 8 week plan that, quite frankly, is too ambitious for me. I usually do great until week 5, can't do it, and then quit.
I'm thinking I need more of a Kicked Back on the Couch Sippin' Sweet Tea to 5K Plan.
My cousin suggested I give this 16 Week Couch to 5K a go. I can tell already I like it much better! Totally doable!
I hope you'll follow along on this journey, give me encouraging words and a swift kick in the rear when I need it!
(Did I mention that I'm already supposed to be on week 5? And I'm barely at week 3? Yeah, you can start that swift kick anytime now.)
